The Week in Awesome: Halloween Fun Edition.
"It's worth sawing off my own foot just to see Journal of Awesome one more time!"
Boo.
This is going to be a special roundup post about all things awesome and scary.
Looking Ghouly. Vintage Halloween costumes. Creepy.
Animal Cruelty. Dogs and cats in costume.
Halloween Mom. Here's a sentence you could interpret two ways after seeing the photo: Someone got into the candy jar.
Pumpkin Revenge. They're back and they're not happy about you cutting out their innards.
Most Awesomely Trashy Costume. Flirty Nurse? Too subtle. How 'bout a straight up slutty costume. One note, I'm not sure this is really a costume. This just might be how she dresses.
Frightening Flicks. Need a good scare? Check out the list of the 50 scariest horror movies from boston.com.
Boo or Boob? Someone should do a tally of scary versus slutty costumes. I'm betting there's more slutty costumes. Here's ten more. Courtesy of Sock Monkey.
Awesome Video: Fluff-free Horror.
In honor of Halloween, here's a spooky post.
Fear.net has taken classic horror movies like Friday the 13th Part Six (wait is classic the right word?) and edited them down to a cube-dwelling, boss-lurking-nearby friendly 66.6 seconds.
Get it? 66.6 seconds. You see it's sign of the devil, if he was really committed to being precise and evil instead of being just evil.
So the voice-over and the intro talent is a little weak. Spider? Where's Rob Zombie when you need him? And the voice-over that they use turning the movie is I think the same guy that does the vo's for American's Funniest Home Videos.
That aside, this is required viewing.
Gotta have more? Of course you do, sicko. Head to FearNet for the 66.6 Second Film Festival.

Awesome Kicks: the green bball shoe
Nike Considered Design, is Nike's movement to combine sustainability principles with the newest innovations for sport. The Nike Huarache 09 uses Environmentally Preferred Materials (EPMs), with a high recycled content, wherever possible. The stitching details and embroidery create structural support, eliminating the need for excessive overlays, embellishments and backing materials. A smarter pattern design allowed for a cutting efficiency of 70 percent on the upper, substantially reducing waste. Look for the Nike Huarache 09 in stores soon.

Awesome Stop Motion Ad: Big Fucking Giraffe.
This is an amazing stop motion film. It runs about 5 minutes and the detail is impressive.
It was created by Joseph Mann. You can check some behind the scenes stuff here.
Joseph is student. (Side-note: I wish I had done anything this productive while I was a student.) Here's his description of himself.
"My name is Joseph Mann and I am about to go into my final year at the Glasgow School of Art studying Illustration."
Geez. So modest. He left out talented bastard.
Enjoy.

Awesome Robo Call: Politics Make for Strange Bedfellows.
Awesome Video: More Exciting Than Your Average MLS Game.
Fake? Or real?
Some say the motion of the ball is a little weird but with the crappy video quality, uhm, who can really tell?
The ball would have to be digitally erased and then put back in. That's a lot of After Effects work or whatever.
I thought for sure this was going to be a video for Nike, based on the prominent Nike logo on the ball the first girl puts down. But then the second girl puts down a different brand of ball. So, huh?
What I would do if I was a marketer is grab a professional soccer player or two and have them try to do it for real. (What's David Beckham doing? Are the L.A. Galaxy in the playoffs. Did the MLS playoffs already happen?)
Oh, and girl in tight pants bending over? Nice key frame selection by Yahoo or nice key frame optimizing by the video's creator. Take a, err, bow.

Awesome SNL Digital Short: You Want More Fiya? We got it.
After hitting it out of the park with "Lazy Sunday", "Lettuce" and a few others ("Laser Cats"), the SNL Digital short have become a wee bit hit or miss.
This one is on par with the best, IMHO. Watch for a killer moment about 21 seconds from the end.

The Week in Awesome: We Hijacked This Shit from Other Respectable Blogs, Yo.
Smile Saints Cheerleader! Your team just got busted for doping.
Sex on a Beach. You've tried the drink, now try it with a prison sentence in Dubai. I mean come on, post-coital cleanup was probably punishment enough. Sandy fun here.
Become Successful in 25 Steps. Wow, I wonder if I could become moderately successful just by following say the first 17 steps or so. See the article for yourself and report back.
Girlfriend Not Included. Some guy is selling his mega-huge Transformers collection. Get in now. The biddings going to be up to 50K in no time.
There's more to MySpace than Music. MySpace has women, too. Not just crappy emo bands you've never heard of.
Cats + Treadmill. Blood sugar low? Hit up this dose of cuteness.
Awesome Original: Weak Takes for the Week.
Ah, just as we've always suspected.
Madonna's a top.
1) Guy Ritchie says making love to Madonna like making love to gristle.
Guy's best man told him on his wedding night to "Lie back and think of England for the next 10 years."
2) GOP spends 150K on Sarah Palin's Clothing.
Didn't know that Neiman Marcus had a hockey mom section.
3) Terence Howard Calls Being Replaced By Don Cheadle The Surprise of a Lifetime.
So what would Howard have called it if he was replaced by Verne "Mini Me" Troyer?
4) William Shatner Upset George Takei Didn't Invite Him To Wedding.
Good to know that Shatner's expanded his acting range to include Bitchy Queen.
5) According to mom, Nick Hogan went into prison a boy and came out a man.
True, being traded for a pack of Pall Malls is a rite of passage towards manhood.
6) Kids Now Less Likely To Graduate than Parents.
Expect to see bumper stickers in the future: Proud Parents of a High School Drop Out.
7) CDC Recommendations Vaccinations for Smokers.
And if that doesn't work, spaying and neutering.
8) A Woman in Sacramento Was Caught Stealing a Duck From a Pond.
The woman claimed it was going to be a pet for children, at least until dinnertime.
9) Daunte Culpepper Still Wants to Make an NFL Comeback.
And the CFL still can't wait for Daunte to lower his expectations.
10) Brady Bunch's Maureen McCormick Releases Shocking New Tell-All Book.
The original title was Everything that Happened to Other Child Stars Also Happened to Me, plus Anal.
